How do I update the GE Offline Viewer?
After successfully installing your DVD application, a window should open with shortcuts to “Uninstall” or run/launch the DVD application you just installed (CF34-8E). A GE icon will also appear on your desktop to be able to launch your GE CF34-8E DVD application.
Likewise, you can go to your ‘Start’ button on your PC and go to the Programs folder to “Uninstall” or run/launch the DVD application you installed (CF34-8E).
When you first run or launch an installed GE Tech Data DVD
application like CF34-8E, you will see a one-time ‘Terms of Use” dialog
box. Just click on the ‘Accept’ button to
continue.
The GE Tech Data DVD application will open with an
information panel. If you don’t want to
see this again when you launch the program, click on the check mark so that it
doesn’t appear in the ‘Show this dialog on Startup’. Click on the ‘OK’ button to proceed.
GE Tech Data DVD ‘Update’ can be done by clicking on the
‘Update’ icon circled in red or by going to the Toolbar and selecting the
option ‘File’ and then the option ‘Update’.
Note, you must first have downloaded “DVD Update” files (file extension
of “.geae”) from our myGEAerospace portal for the desired engine program (CF34-8E), and placed the “DVD Update” files
in a specified folder on your PC before performing attempting this update.
Once you start the GE Tech Data DVD ‘Update’, a dialog box
will be launched with an ‘Update Wizard’.
First, browse to the folder where you placed the DVD Update files you
downloaded from the myGEAerospace portal for your engine program (CF34-8E). Locate the folder name and click on the name
to highlight it and then select the ‘OK’ button.
The folder name selected in the dialog box should appear
something like the below screenshot. Select
the ‘Next’ button to proceed.
Individual files for the engine program (CF34-8E) you are
wanting to update, are detected in the folder named and automatically checked
for applying to your installed GE Tech Data DVD. If you uncheck an item noted, it will not be
applied to your installed GE Tech Data DVD.
Click on the ‘Next’ button to apply the selected updates.
The selected items are noted as being successfully applied
and updated. Click on the ‘Finish’
button to conclude this update to your GE Tech Data DVD. You can remove or archive the DVD Update files
that you downloaded from the myGEAerospace portal since they are applied and no
longer really needed. It is suggested
that if you want to archive the DVD Update files for tracking or historical
purposes, that you move them to a different folder other than the one that you
update from using the Update wizard.
Applied DVD Updates can be viewed through the normal steps
of navigating the Table of Contents (TOC) and double-clicking on the entries in
the TOC to view the Manual content.
